WHAT SERVICES DO WE OFFER?

PEDIATRIC NURSING CARE.

How does our pediatric nursing team work?

The nursing team at Give Me 5 Therapy and PPEC Center is made up of specialized nurses licensed by the health system, such as licensed practical nurses (LPN), registered nurses (RN), and certified nursing assistants (CNA). They, along with each child’s primary physician, evaluate, diagnose, and establish a personalized care plan for each child in their care. They then proceed to implement that care program and periodically evaluate the child’s progress or deficiencies.

The nursing team is in charge of treating medical conditions in adolescents and children, and administering minor procedures as necessary, from medications to intravenous treatments as indicated by each child’s pediatrician. Also provides education to family members by answering questions and providing follow-up information as needed. Excellent communication skills are very important at our center, we are highly qualified and certified to provide medical care to children facing complex medical challenges and are guided by a medical director and nursing director.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
How to make your child more independent?

That is the main objective of our occupational therapy program: to stimulate, train and strengthen your child’s physical abilities so that through a program of daily activities they achieve the greatest possible functional independence. With an adequate occupational therapy plan, children can develop cognitive and visual perception skills. They develop fine motor and coordination skills and generally advance to be able to participate in self-care, in games and interaction with other children, as well as in different social activities.

PHYSICAL THERAPY
How can Children’s Physical Therapy help?

Physical therapists work with infants and children to improve their gross motor skills, balance, and coordination to improve their participation in daily activities. Common diagnoses include developmental delays, torticollis, idiopathic tiptoe walking, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, developmental coordination disorder to other musculoskeletal conditions.

A personalized physical therapy plan like the one we offer at our Center will help to significantly improve the child’s motor skills, increase their participation in physical activities, help them correct asymmetrical posture, muscle weakness or tension, as well as improve their balance and coordination

SPEECH THERAPY
What is speech therapy?

It is incredible the number of children who, at an early age, have problems with speech, diction, and language skills in general. Above all, bilingual communities. But if the child also has other conditions that affect speech function, speech therapy becomes essential. This personalized treatment gradually improves the ability to speak and use other language skills. Helps the child to be able to express his or her thoughts and understand what other people are saying. It can also improve skills such as memory and problem-solving abilities.

At Give Me 5 Therapy and PPEC Center your child will receive a pathologist who will make a diagnosis and make an individualized therapy plan to find exercises and activities that address their specific needs and thus help them use their voice, understand words, gain fluency, clarity, and expression of words.

RESPIRATORY THERAPY
What is respiratory therapy?

Our respiratory therapists are an essential part of the multidisciplinary team with which we offer care to the children of our PPEC. Together with physical therapy, they help children with chronic respiratory disorders such as asthma, emphysema, or infectious diseases.

Respiratory therapy involves working in different sessions to care for the lungs and respiratory system. In children with assisted breathing such as tracheostomy tubes, which allow them to breathe without using their nose or mouth, these professionals work so that they learn to live with these high-tech machines while they begin to develop other age-appropriate activities.

Children with breathing problems such as cystic fibrosis and asthma may benefit from respiratory therapy. Additionally, the respiratory therapist can educate children and their parents or caregivers about how best to manage the condition. Additionally, for those born with a lung condition, respiratory therapists help with treatment or response to any emergency respiratory needs.

TRANSPORTATION

To assist with the convenience, safety, comfort and punctuality of our care and therapy program, Give Me 5 Therapy and PPEC Center offers transportation service where we prioritize the safety of our children.
It is a free wheelchair-friendly service, and we work with Florida Medicaid to coordinate transportation to and from the center.

EDUCATIONAL AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Designed for children and young people with fragile medical conditions, this teaching program links the child with the educational system, with the intention of achieving the most comprehensive training possible and according to each child and their particularities.

Through activities, the aim is to foster in them the desire to know, to think and to be creative. Our goal is that a child, regardless of his or her physical condition, is not limited in his or her learning.

Our center also provides after-school care to school-age and medically fragile children. Parents have the option to speak to their child’s school and arrange transportation to our center, if provided, by school bus.

Coming to a center after school gives the child time to relax, stretch, and be with her friends. When you pick up the child, many of his or her needs are met, which can make the nights easier. After-school care provides consistency for parents, uses few hours, and does not take away from an outside nursing shift. Teachers offer organized activities and play time after school. Medically fragile children may also attend during scheduled school holidays and summer vacations.

WEEKEND PROGRAM
Our centers provide overnight weekend care for enrolled medically fragile children on selected weekends throughout the year. Children may attend from Friday through Sunday. Overnight weekend care provides parents/guardians with the opportunity to temporarily rest from their role as primary caregiver.

Our weekend team of nurses and teachers provide skilled nursing care and organized activities in a safe and fun environment. Each weekend has a fun theme for scheduled activities. The children are able to see their friends when they attend Holiday celebrations, are always planned for a fun-filled weekend with their friends.
